Transbay Service

With 33 bus lines together providing service over all three Bay Area bridges, AC Transit is one of the easiest ways to commute across the Bay. Bus stops are conveniently located in hundreds of neighborhoods throughout the East Bay; chances are there’s one near you!

There are over 500 trips each weekday into and out of downtown San Francisco alone, plus three lines running all-day and on weekends, and an All Nighter line that operates during the late-night hours when BART is closed. Use the links below to learn more about this convenient and pleasant way to cross the Bay.

  • Overview Map: Get the big picture of the transbay-to-San Francisco network.
  • Find a Bus Near You: AC Transit has over 600 East Bay bus stops with service to San Francisco, plus another 150 stops in southern Alameda County with service over the San Mateo and Dumbarton bridges.
  • Schedules & Line Maps: Frequent, convenient service during peak commute hours, plus all-day, late-night, and weekend trips too!
  • Bus Stops: Most transbay riders simply walk from home to their neighborhood bus stop.
  • Park & Ride Lots: If you don’t live near a bus stop stop, you can always leave your car at a Park & Ride lot and hop on a transbay bus.
  • Fares: Frequent riders will save big with a 31-Day Transbay Pass — available on Clipper.
  • Transbay Taskforce: Get involved by attending this quarterly, lunchtime meeting of fellow transbay riders in downtown San Francisco.
  • Transbay Temporary Terminal: Our San Francisco destination is conveniently located just two blocks from Market St. and steps from other transit connections.
  • Wi-Fi on Board: Free access so you can surf the web and check email during your commute.
